Aloha SEAOH Members,

Please join us to get your ATC 20 and 45 certification. The meeting will be an all-day in-person training on Friday November 18, 2022 beginning at 8:00am at University of Hawaii.  The Applied Technology Council’s (ATC) training will consist of two modules: ATC-20 and ATC-45. The ATC-20 certification is for post-earthquake evaluation of buildings and the ATC-45 certification is for the safety evaluation of buildings after windstorms and floods. Once certified, the individuals will be more prepared to lead teams for post-event evaluations of buildings, which are initiated by the governor in an emergency proclamation after a natural disaster. Having members with these certifications helps SEAOH be prepared to respond to natural disasters.

Each attendee of the training will receive field manuals for both the ATC-20 and ATC-45. The Field Manuals give advice on evaluating structural, geotechnical, and nonstructural risks, and advice on how to rate the safety significance of certain types of damage.  In addition, the Manual covers related topics of interest to safety personnel, including (a) how to deal with owners and occupants of damaged buildings; and (b) field safety issues.

This type of training is very important to ensure that Hawaii is prepared for natural disasters and can respond to damage swiftly and re-open facilities and buildings as quickly as possible.

When: November 18, 2022 starting at 8:00am

Where: University of Hawaii (classroom TBD)

Cost: $100 members / $150 non-members
