MIH Seminar: Masonry - Testing the Limits

  • 24 Oct 2024
  • 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Blaisdell Hawaii Suites

This seminar will explore a series of questions to help the engineer get the most out of their masonry structures:

  • How much is too much? A code, practice, and construction-based discussion of the limits and proper detailing of reinforcing in masonry walls.
  • How high can we go? We will determine some practical height limits for single story masonry walls in Hawaii, and we will explore what we learn about masonry design as we push it to its limits.
  • How will this change? A review of recent and upcoming code changes.
